Chancellor Rachel Reeves visits Building Futures Together.

We were delighted to welcome Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves MP, to BFT on Friday 12 September. Rachel got to see first-hand how we’re helping young people gain vital skills and pathways into the construction industry.

From wiring a switch herself  to meeting and speaking with the students, Rachel saw how vocational learning is positively impacting lives and supporting the UK’s ambition to train up to 60,000 skilled construction workers.

Rachel said: “We are determined to get Britain building again, that’s why we are taking on the blockers to build 1.5 million new homes and rebuild our roads, rail and energy infrastructure. But none of this is possible without the engineers, brickies, sparkies, and chippies to actually get the work done. It was fantastic to meet students and staff at Building Futures Together in Pudsey, who are tackling the shortage of construction workers, boosting jobs, broadening opportunities and delivering economic growth for Leeds and beyond.”
